Zero Emissions Achieved!
SolarTechTRU is setting a standard for zero emissions TRUs.
“Every obstacle we faced, we answered with technology that very reliably delivers, and that also helps California achieve its zero emissions goals without food distributors having to go broke. As a matter of fact, our proprietary tech has been helping their balance sheets, significantly.”
- Robert Koelsch, CEO and Co-Founder, AEM

Catch a ride in an electric Volvo truck during PFG's Earth Day Event 2024
Please be our guest!
PFG will be showcasing our zero emissions SolarTechTRU's, among the other pieces of their carbon-reduction puzzle.
Earth Day: April 22, 2024
11am-1:30pm (We're serving ice cream frozen by the sun, and lunch will be served)
PFG: 5480 Monterey Rd. Gilroy, CA 95020
Key features of the facility include:
• A fleet of seven Class 8 Volvo VNR Electric trucks and a zero-emission yard tractor, exemplifying PFG's move towards zero-tailpipe emission transportation.
• SolarTechTRUs (solar-electric TRUs) from Advanced Energy Machines (AEM.Green), representing breakthrough zero-emissions, multi-temp-controlled trailer technology.
• A charging island developed by Freewire Technologies, capable of charging up to 30 tractors simultaneously, ensuring operational efficiency and resiliency.
• Rooftop solar power and battery storage through GridMarket and installed by renewable energy developer team Enerlogics and MBL Energy, highlighting PFG’s commitment to clean energy and reducing reliance on traditional power sources.
In addition to its collaboration with numerous “green” partners, PFG’s electromobility journey was made possible with funding support from California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) and from EnergIIZE Commercial Vehicles (Energy Infrastructure Incentives for Zero-Emission Commercial Vehicles). Each of these organizations played an instrumental role in ensuring that PFG's investments were both strategic and impactful, setting a benchmark for sustainability in the food distribution industry.
